Applications

Cold Cutting technology uses ultra-high pressure (up to 2.500 bar) water jet for cutting storage tank floors, roofs and side-shells. Easy programming, cost-efficient operations and the possibility to work on nearly all kind of materials from a few tenths of a millimeter up to 250 mm of thickness, with an extreme precision level, made it an essential element of Nuova Saimar technical equipment.

We suggest our Client the use of cold cutting technologies in the following applications:

storage tank shell cut, as the operation does not generate mechanical and thermal strain and does not create hazardous sparks;
tank and equipment cut, as it grants an extreme level of accuracy and complexity;
reinforced concrete frameworks demolition – where is particularly recommended – due to the lack of vibrations

A specific motor pump ejects a high-pressure water jet (2.500 bar @ 26 litre/min) to the cutting nozzle, secured to a magnetic guide and moved by an oleodynamic system. the water ejected by a calibrated orifice, at nearly 4 times the sound speed, can be mixed up with abrasive to allow cutting of whatever shape and materials up to a maximum thickness of 250 mm.

Water jet technology is the easiest and most versatile process to perform: it does not require subsequent processes, does not entail mechanical and thermal strain, allows a high optimization level thanks to the 1 mm jet, does not have limits for materials and thicknesses, and has an easy functionality thanks to the possibility to use the same tool and conditions in nearly all the materials.
